Join us for a Sunday Service honoring legendary artist Betye Saar, whose groundbreaking assemblage work challenged stereotypes and redefined the power of image. Together, we’ll explore the legacy of Black women artists who transform the discarded into the divine, the painful into the powerful.
This service will include:
A reflection on Saar’s revolutionary work and the history of the Black Arts Movement
A hands-on assemblage activity inviting you to create a personal altar from everyday materials
Community sharing, spiritual grounding, and collective meaning-making
All are welcome. Children are invited to participate in Sunday School, a new offering in collaboration with the Rainbow Collective for Change, and kids under 5 may attend with a caregiver.
Let’s gather, create, and remember the revolutionary possibilities of art.
